Planned short stays with practical support
Short Term Accommodation can provide a temporary change of setting with support for daily routines, meals, personal care, skill building and community activities. It should be planned around goals, participant preferences and availability.
Who this service may suit
STA may suit participants and families who need a planned short break, transition support or an opportunity to build skills away from home.
- Participants seeking a short, supported stay.
- Families or carers planning respite arrangements.
- Participants working on independence, routines or community confidence.
- Support coordinators looking for a provider that can confirm suitability and availability.
What support can include
Support is agreed with each participant. Depending on goals, assessed needs, location and capacity, it may include:
- Support with daily routines during the stay.
- Meals, personal tasks and recreational activities as agreed.
- Community access and skill development opportunities.
- Clear intake, risk and consent information before the stay.
What this page does not promise
- STA is not a hotel holiday package.
- It is not an emergency shelter or crisis accommodation service.
- It does not include clinical respite outside agreed support-worker scope.
- It does not guarantee NDIS funding or automatic plan approval.
Where and when it is available
STA requires confirmation of dates, location, support ratios, participant needs and current capacity. Early enquiries help us assess suitability.
Confirm current capacity
Availability can change. Tell us the suburb or postcode, preferred start date and support required so the intake team can give an accurate answer.
Funding and service agreements
STA should be discussed in the context of the participant plan, goals, reasonable and necessary considerations, pricing arrangements and service agreement.
EPNT does not guarantee plan funding, plan approval or participant outcomes. Before support starts, the service, price, responsibilities and cancellation terms should be documented in a service agreement.
Our approach
Our focus is a respectful short stay that keeps the participant safe, listened to and involved in decisions about routines and activities.
- Start with the participant’s goals, preferences and communication needs.
- Explain scope, availability, costs and next steps in plain English.
- Protect privacy and collect only the information needed at each stage.
- Review support arrangements as circumstances and goals change.
Common questions
How far ahead should I request STA?
As early as possible, especially if specific dates, overnight support or higher support ratios are needed.
Can STA include community activities?
Yes, where agreed and appropriate. Activities should be planned around participant preferences, safety and goals.
