Support for safer, more independent home life
Supported Independent Living can help participants with daily routines, shared living arrangements, personal tasks, skills development and community participation. The exact support model depends on the participant, their goals, home environment, roster needs and current capacity.
Who this service may suit
SIL may suit participants who need regular support at home and have goals connected to independence, routines, safety or shared living.
- Participants who need daily or regular support at home.
- People preparing to move into a supported living arrangement.
- Participants who need support with routines, meals, personal tasks or community participation.
- Families, guardians and support coordinators seeking a provider with local NT experience.
What support can include
Support is agreed with each participant. Depending on goals, assessed needs, location and capacity, it may include:
- Morning, evening and daily living routines.
- Meal planning, preparation and household participation.
- Personal care and self-care support where agreed.
- Support to build skills, confidence and community participation.
- Coordination with the participant, family, support coordinator and other providers.
What this page does not promise
- It does not include rent, food, utilities or personal spending costs.
- It is not emergency accommodation or crisis housing.
- It does not guarantee that a participant plan will include SIL funding.
- It does not replace clinical, nursing or allied health services outside the agreed support scope.
Where and when it is available
SIL availability depends on participant fit, support model, staffing and suitable accommodation arrangements. Enquire with the intake team to discuss current options across NT service areas.
Confirm current capacity
Availability can change. Tell us the suburb or postcode, preferred start date and support required so the intake team can give an accurate answer.
Funding and service agreements
Funding should be discussed against the participant plan, goals and relevant service agreement. We avoid statements such as 100% funded, guaranteed funding or NDIS approved.
EPNT does not guarantee plan funding, plan approval or participant outcomes. Before support starts, the service, price, responsibilities and cancellation terms should be documented in a service agreement.
Our approach
EPNT works to understand the person first, then match support arrangements to routines, communication preferences, risk needs, cultural context and goals.
- Start with the participant’s goals, preferences and communication needs.
- Explain scope, availability, costs and next steps in plain English.
- Protect privacy and collect only the information needed at each stage.
- Review support arrangements as circumstances and goals change.
Common questions
Can EPNT tell me if SIL is funded in my plan?
The intake team can talk through your goals and support needs, but funding decisions and plan content must be checked against the participant plan and relevant NDIS advice.
Can support be shared with other participants?
Shared arrangements depend on compatibility, support needs, risk, location and current capacity. They should be carefully assessed before support starts.
